SSD with Data Caching
What precisely is a solid-state drive (SSD)? What is SSD caching and how does it work? Check out the pros of hosting your web sites on an SSD-powered server.
A solid-state drive is incredibly quicker than any normal hard disk. This is because a hard-disk drive works by using spinning disks, which can rotate only so fast and the more information is read and written, the slower and hotter they become, while an SDD employs modules of flash memory, so there aren't any physically moving components. The access speeds for an SSD are substantially higher, which makes this kind of drives a preferred solution every time speed is needed. That's why SSDs are in many cases employed for the Operating System on a PC and for storing data that's used repeatedly on hosting servers. Many service providers also use a combination of the two drives, so they store the data on hard disk drives, but they use a couple of solid-state drives to cache the more often used data and due to this fact, the data loads much quicker while the load on the HDDs is decreased since their disks need to spin less often in order to read and write.

SSD with Data Caching in Hosting
The cloud platform where we make
hosting accounts uses solely SSD drives, so your web applications and static sites will load very fast. The SSDs are used for files, e-mail addresses and databases, so regardless if you load a page or check for new emails with webmail, the content will load instantly. So as to ensure even higher speeds, we also use a group of dedicated SSDs that function only as cache. All content that generates a lot of traffic is copied on them automatically and is afterwards read from them and not from the main storage drives. Of course, that content is replaced dynamically for better efficiency. What we achieve that way in addition to the better speed is reduced overall load, thus reduced probability of hardware failures, and prolonged lifespan of the primary drives, that's one more level of security for any information that you upload to your account.

SSD with Data Caching in Semi-dedicated Servers
In case you register for one of our
semi-dedicated server plans, we'll hold your content on SSD drives and this is valid not only for the files, but also for all of the databases and e-mails. This way, your script-driven applications and webmail will load extremely fast. We work with dedicated SSDs for caching too. Traffic-intensive content is cloned automatically on these drives, so we ensure that several heavy Internet sites which generate plenty of reading and writing processes shall not influence the other websites which share the exact same drive. By reducing the overall load we also boost the lifespan of the primary storage disks and reduce the chance of a disk failure, so by using SSD drives for caching purposes, we add an extra level of stability for your website content.
